Lawsuit filed against JWT Global CEO Gustavo Martinez for Sexual Harassment and racist slurs

According to numerous media reports, J. Walter Thompson’s Chief Communications Officer Erin Johnson has filed a lawsuit against Gustavo Martinez, Global CEO, JWT, in the New York Federal Court for sexual harassment and racist slurs.

In her complaint, Johnson said that Martinez subjected her “and other employees to an unending stream of racist and sexist comments as well as unwanted touching and other unlawful conduct.”

Issuing a statement through parent company WPP, Martinez said, “I am aware of the allegations made against me by a J. Walter Thompson employee in a suit filed in New York Federal Court. I want to assure our clients and my colleagues that there is absolutely no truth to these outlandish allegations, and I am confident that this will be proven in court.”

As per reports, the lawsuit also spells out examples of Martinez using slurs about people of colour and Jews. Johnson also charged that Martinez “regularly makes anti-Semitic remarks.”

In addition to a ruling in her favour, Johnson wants back pay, compensatory and punitive damages and reinstatement.
