Keith Weed appointed as President of the Advertising Association

He will take over in September from Andy Duncan, CEO, Camelot

Keith Weed, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Unilever, has been appointed as President of the Advertising Association (AA). Weed is expected to take over in September from Andy Duncan, CEO, Camelot and now head of Travelopia.

According to reports, Keith Weed will be tasked with guiding the Advertising Association's strategy, which includes, their continued collaboration with the government, as well as, small and medium sized businesses. He will also be responsible for restoring public trust in advertising.

Weed will also work with adam&eve DDB Chairman, James Murphy and AA CEO Stephen Woodford to set up an industry leaders council of media owners, brands and agencies.

Speaking on his new appointment Keith Weed said “It’s an honour to take on the role of president of the Advertising Association at such an exciting time for the industry,” Weed continued. “I look forward to working with Stephen and the team to continue to build trust in advertising and cultivate world-class talent across the UK.”

Stephen Woodford, CEO, Advertising Association said, “Keith is a highly influential leader of marketing and advertising on the world stage and his strategic guidance on the biggest issues we face as an industry, not just here in the UK, but as the leading global hub for brands, media owners and agencies could not come at a better time.”

“I know he will bring great insight and energy to our work over the coming years. It is a vital time as we work through the digitalisation of our industry, the shifting political sands and the changing expectations of our workforce and the wider society from advertising”, he added.

During the past eight years as Unilever's CMO, Weed has led the company's plan for sustainable living and has also advanced Unilever's 'Unstereotype initiative', as well as leading the way in clearing the clutter in the digital advertising sector.

Weed is Chairman of Business in the Community International and a Business in the Community board trustee, President of the History of Advertising Trust, an Effie board director and trustee of Grange Park Opera.
