Jignesh Maniar’s On bags Rs 20-cr creative duties of Jagran-18 Publications
On, the newly-formed agency by former O&M hand Jignesh Maniar, has been appointed as the creative agency for Jagran-18 Publications Ltd, a Jagran-TV18 joint venture. Bharat Kapadia, CEO and Managing Editor of the JV, has confirmed the development. Industry sources have pegged the account size at Rs 15-20 crore.

Commenting on the win, Maniar said, “We are very excited about handling the creative duties of Jagran-18. It is clearly the coming together of two media giants. Considering that there are already a few players in the regional business news category, watch out for some really fresh and innovative marketing and communication that will shake up the category.”
Bharat Kapadia said, “Our primary mandate is in the business of print. We will comment on the strategy for the new publication and its communication mix when we are ready to announce the launch date.”
For On, it is definitely a big win. Moreover, the agency is in talks with several other clients. On the staff front, the agency is already 20-people strong.
It may be recalled that TV18 and Jagran Prakashan had announced a 50:50 joint venture initiative in the business print space in December 2007. The venture has been positioned to benefit from the respective competencies of TV18 and Jagran Prakashan.
The Jagran-TV18 JV plans to create a new category of local language business dailies within the Indian print space. The JV is coming out with its first Hindi business newspaper, which will hit the market nationally soon, butno launch date has been announced yet. This venture also marks an expansion of print offerings from Network18 into the dailies space, following the recent announcement of its magazine publishing arrangement with Forbes Media and ownership control of Infomedia.
