Following Omnicom’s acquisition of Interpublic last week, Chris Foster’s remit has expanded significantly as he now heads what becomes the world’s largest consolidated public relations network. Foster, who has been CEO of Omnicom Public Relations Group since 2021, will oversee the integration of Interpublic’s major PR agencies into Omnicom’s communications portfolio.

The restructuring places agencies such as Weber Shandwick, Golin and Porter Novelli (previously part of Interpublic) alongside Omnicom agencies like FleishmanHillard and Ketchum under a single leadership umbrella. Foster’s role now centres on aligning operations across the merged group, streamlining capabilities and bringing teams onto Omni, Omnicom’s data and intelligence platform that will anchor the combined offering.

Industry watchers say the consolidation marks one of the most consequential shake-ups in the global communications sector in recent years. Foster is expected to manage both the integration process and the competitive repositioning of the unified PR group at a time when clients are demanding tighter measurement, AI-enabled insights and faster execution.

With this merger, Foster moves from overseeing Omnicom’s PR agencies to steering a significantly larger, cross-holding company network, effectively redefining the scale and structure of global PR services going forward.
