McCann Erickson bags Piramal Healthcare's creative biz

McCann Erickson has won the creative business of Piramal Healthcare. The account size is estimated to be between Rs 70 crore and Rs 80 Crore.
It may be noted that the agency is familiar with the company as it had handled the creative duties for the brand in the past.
On awarding the business to McCann Erickson, Kedar Rajadnye, COO - Consumer Products, Piramal Healthcare said, “We have moved from the 40th rank to 7th in the Indian OTC market over the last four years. We intend to build on the pace generated and be among the top three players within the next five years. Given this ambition, we wanted to enhance our capabilities on the marketing and communication front and found McCann Worldgroup similar to us in their outlook and mindset towards meeting the self care needs of today’s consumers. We are confident that this partnership will help us move us towards our ambition.”
The company had consolidated its business with Orchard Advertising in early 2009; prior to this, it had JWT, McCann Erickson and Orchard on its roster. The aim behind this consolidation was to help bring greater synergies in its communication for different brands.
Piramal Healthcare’s consumer division has seen aggressive growth in the last four years – from a Rs 40-crore business to Rs 300 crore. The brand has also recently appointed Madison Media as its media agency and is currently working on product line and brand extensions, and plans to roll out communication on the same in the upcoming quarter.
As exclusively reported by exchange4media, Piramal Consumer Products, under the umbrella of Piramal Healthcare, called for a multi-agency pitch in May in Mumbai.
