For decades, women have faced systemic challenges in establishing their voices in various industries. However, the digital revolution has given them an opportunity to bypass traditional gatekeepers and carve their own paths.

Influencers like Lilly Singh, Malini Agarwal, and Nancy Tyagi have transformed content creation into a legitimate career, demonstrating that women can be both creative and commercially successful. By embracing their uniqueness and sharing personal stories, they have encouraged a new generation of women to follow their dreams without fear of societal judgment.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, a group of trailblazing women influencers is redefining digital influence across various niches. Backed by data from Qoruz, an Influencer Marketing Intelligence platform, these creators are not just amassing followers but are shaping conversations, driving engagement, and breaking barriers in the digital realm.

From storytelling and travel to gaming and fashion, these influencers are at the forefront of digital evolution, proving that women are a formidable force online.

The Women Who Inspire

Prajakta Koli (@mostlysane) - The Digital Storyteller

With over 8.8 million followers on Instagram and an impressive engagement rate of 3.36%, Mumbai-based Prajakta Koli has mastered the art of relatability. She started her content journey with a simple YouTube UCG video seamlessly blending humor, lifestyle, and social causes, making her one of India’s most influential digital voices. Her estimated reach of over 2 million solidifies her impact. Koli's influence extends beyond digital content creation. In 2019, she was featured in Forbes' 30 under 30 list and Outlook Business Magazine's Women of Worth. She also received Cosmopolitan's YouTuber of the Year award.

Her acting career includes starring roles in the Netflix series 'Mismatched' and a supporting role in the film 'Jugjugg Jeeyo' (2022).

On the international stage, Koli represented India at the United Nations headquarters during the International Day of Tolerance in 2018 as an ambassador for YouTube's Creators for Change program. She also participated in the 'The Call to Unite' event in May 2020, featuring global personalities like Oprah Winfrey and Julia Roberts. Koli actively advocates for mental health and body positivity. In 2016, she launched the campaign #iPledgeToBeMe, addressing mental health and body shaming issues. She has also been involved in initiatives promoting girls' education and climate change awareness. In January 2022, she was appointed as UNDP India's first Youth Climate Champion.

Breaking Barriers and Shaping the Future

Beyond fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, women influencers are using their digital presence to advocate for crucial social issues. Activists like Laxmi Agarwal, a survivor of acid attacks, and Harnaam Kaur, who challenges beauty standards, have harnessed the power of social media to spread awareness and inspire change.

Climate warriors like Diipa Khosla and entrepreneurs like Masoom Minawala are also leveraging their platforms to discuss sustainability, women’s financial independence, and mental health. Their ability to spark conversations around difficult topics proves that influencers have become more than entertainers—they are educators, thought leaders, and catalysts for change.

Many women influencers are not just content creators but successful entrepreneurs, launching their own brands and businesses. Whether it’s Kay Beauty by Katrina Kaif, BrownSkin Beauty by Anusha Dandekar, or FAE Beauty by women-led teams, female influencers are turning their audiences into thriving communities.

Their journeys highlight the power of personal branding and how a strong digital presence can be converted into successful ventures. Moreover, they have created safe spaces for women to discuss beauty, skincare, fashion, and wellness, challenging unrealistic standards set by traditional industries.
