Recently, we came across one such podcast that is making waves in the entrepreneurial storytelling, The Rockford Circle. It is a contemporary chat show that explores the entrepreneurial journeys and the stories of business leaders who have reshaped industries. Other than the established names, this show represents the exceptional stories of emerging startups and innovators who are challenging the status quo and transforming industries with fresh perspectives and bold ideas. The host of this show is an acclaimed actor, Chitrangada Singh, who brings forth insightful and candid conversations with some of India’s inspiring founders and disruptors.
The debut season of the show, created in collaboration with Mindshare, struck a powerful chord with audiences, garnering an impressive 95 million+ views and 40 million+ impressions across platforms. It became a go-to platform for disruptors and dreamers, featuring a stellar lineup of guests, including Yashish Dahiya (Policy Bazaar), Rohit Bansal (Snapdeal), Shantanu Deshpande (Bombay Shaving Company), and Gaurav & Amit Khatri (Noise). So, to explore the essence of The Rockford Circle, we engaged in a conversation with Abhishek Modi, Managing Director of Modi Illva and discussed the inspiration behind The Rockford Circle, its evolution into a trusted entrepreneurial platform, the resounding success of Season 1 and the popular demand for its return, what’s new in Season 2, including its focus on emerging brands and next-gen innovators, impact the brand wants to create with this show, and what make it stand out from the other podcasts.
Excerpts:
In an era bustling with business-related podcasts, what was the inspiration and unique take behind starting the Rockford Circle? How does it stand out from other business talk shows or entrepreneurial podcasts?
The Rockford Circle was born out of a vision to create a platform that goes beyond the conventional business podcast or entrepreneurial talk show. Rather than just discussing numbers and strategies, we wanted to offer a candid, unfiltered look at what it truly takes to build and sustain a successful business—exploring the failures, resilience, personal sacrifices, and hard-earned wisdom that shape an entrepreneur’s journey. More than just business, the show is about the person behind it all—their struggles, ambitions, and defining moments—showing young Indians that they were once just like them.
What makes The Rockford Circle unique is its ability to blend storytelling with deep business insights, making it both aspirational and educational for the viewers. Designed to be immersive, the show fosters authenticity and real connections between the host and guests, creating a space that empowers the next generation of founders.
What do you believe were the key aspects to the resounding success of Season 1?
The success of the first season boiled down to three key things: authenticity, impact, and relatability. First, the show featured India’s most influential entrepreneurs, including founders of Snapdeal, PolicyBazaar, Noise, Bombay Shaving Company, Yatra and Epigamia, offering firsthand insights into their journeys including the struggles, lessons, and defining moments that shaped them. Second, the numbers spoke for themselves—over 95 million views and 40+ million impressions. Clearly, there is a huge appetite for real, inspiring business stories that go beyond the usual playbook. And finally, what really clicked with viewers was the format because it was not just about business talk but about personal resilience, vision, and grit. That is what made it feel real, inspiring, and ultimately, relatable in my opinion.
What kind of format, trends, stories and industry founders can viewers expect in season 2?
Season 2 builds on the foundation of its predecessor but with an evolved approach. This time, the spotlight is on new-age startups that are disrupting industries, making entrepreneurship feel more attainable and relatable. The format is designed to be more intimate, with a homely set and conversational tone, allowing for candid discussions on business challenges, personal struggles, and breakthrough moments.
The guest list features personalities like Nitin Saluja (Chaayos), Ankur Jain (Bira), Viraj Bahl (Veeba), Samarth & Rashi Narang (Heads Up for Tails), Samrath Bedi (Forest Essentials) and Bhuman Dani (WickedGud), representing diverse sectors, ensuring fresh and dynamic content. We have already released two episodes this season, both of which have received a great response from the audience, garnering nearly 3 million cumulative views on YouTube.
What’s your perspective on India’s evolving startup ecosystem, and how does The Rockford Circle contribute to this conversation?
India’s startup ecosystem is at an inflection point, witnessing unprecedented growth across sectors—from D2C brands to fintech and deep tech. The entrepreneurial landscape is no longer just about unicorns; it is about sustainable, impact-driven businesses that resonate with a growing aspirational demographic. Moreover, consumers are also increasingly gravitating towards homegrown brands, premiumization, and purpose-driven businesses, valuing not just great products but also authentic stories and meaningful impact.
With The Rockford Circle, we at Modi Illva aim to democratize entrepreneurial insights by providing an open platform where seasoned founders share their hard-earned lessons. By featuring a mix of legacy entrepreneurs and new-age disruptors, we want to cultivate a culture of learning, collaboration, and inspiration and further bridge the knowledge gap for budding entrepreneurs and shape the next generation of India’s business leaders.
In today’s time, social media influencers dominate the digital content world. So, why did you choose Chitrangada Singh as the face of the show?
Choosing Chitrangada was a conscious decision to bring a fresh and sophisticated touch to entrepreneurial storytelling. While social media influencers have immense reach, we wanted a host who could facilitate deep, meaningful conversations while lending credibility and elegance to the format.
Her presence elevates the storytelling, making each episode engaging and immersive—ensuring that the discussions feel organic rather than scripted or transactional. Plus, having a respected and talented personality from outside the startup ecosystem brings a unique perspective, broadening the show’s appeal beyond just entrepreneurs to a wider audience.
What is your vision for The Rockford Circle and how do you plan to further empower and inspire India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through the show?
Our vision is to make The Rockford Circle the go-to platform for entrepreneurial inspiration in India—a space where ambition meets wisdom and where stories of perseverance spark real action. Beyond just showcasing success stories, we aim to create an ecosystem of learning, networking, and collaboration. Moving forward, we plan to introduce certain new elements that will ensure that aspiring entrepreneurs don’t just listen to these stories but also find actionable takeaways to build their own ventures. Ultimately, the goal is to democratize access to knowledge and inspiration, making entrepreneurship more inclusive and accessible to all.
