After nearly two decades of leadership in shaping narratives, building trust, and driving social impact, Abhay, Director - Press and Corporate Affairs, concluded his 18.5-year journey with BMW Group India in June 2025. His departure marks the close of a defining era in the company’s corporate leadership.

Abhay joined BMW Group India in November 2006 and went on to establish and lead the company’s functions for Corporate Communications, Public Policy, and Sustainability & Social Impact. As spokesperson and member of the Executive Committee, he not only built the brand’s voice and reputation but also broadened BMW Group India’s engagement with policymakers, industry bodies, and society.

He also played a pivotal role in shaping the BMW Group’s presence in India. Abhay was closely involved in the introduction of BMW (2007), MINI (2012), and BMW Motorrad (2017), while supporting the successful launch and positioning of the BMW Group National Sales Company (2006), BMW Plant Chennai (2007), BMW Financial Services (2010), the International Purchase Office (2008), and the BMW IT Hub (2022).

One of his landmark contributions was Skill Next, a CSR initiative through which 365 BMW engines and transmissions were provided to engineering and technical institutions across every state in India. The program created hands-on learning opportunities for thousands of students, reinforcing BMW Group India’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and future skills development.

Under his leadership, BMW Group India’s Press and Corporate Affairs team was consistently recognized as one of the most effective and credible in the industry. It earned multiple awards and accolades and was regarded as the Best Corporate Affairs Team in the industry.

Reflecting on his journey, Abhay said:

“BMW gave me the platform to shape communications, policy engagement, and social impact in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive markets. For me, leadership was never about titles. It was about creating trust, building bridges, and empowering a team that could deliver with clarity and integrity. That is the legacy I take forward.”

Across a 30-year career spanning multiple industries, Abhay has been recognized for his ability to navigate complex stakeholder ecosystems while anchoring his work on authenticity, precision, and purpose.

Looking ahead, he remains focused on continuing to build meaningful impact:

“Every chapter in my career has been about more than messaging. It has been about meaning and impact. In communications, policy, or sustainability, my focus has always been on creating trust, building institutions, and leaving behind outcomes that last longer than the role itself. Positions may change, but what truly endures are the values you stand for, the bridges you build, and the difference you leave behind.”
