Veteran journalist Vashindra Mishra returns to Jan Tantra TV as CEO

With over 35 years of experience in journalism, Mishra has spent 24 years in television and 11 years in print

Senior television journalist Vashindra Mishra has rejoined Hindi news channel Jan Tantra TV, this time as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

This marks his third stint with Jan Tantra TV. In his first tenure, Mishra served as the Editor-in-Chief and was instrumental in relaunching the channel in January 2019. After nearly two years, he resigned in 2020. He returned again in 2023 as Director (News).

Before his recent comeback, Mishra was a Governor-nominated member of the Governing Board at the Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Jaipur. He also worked closely with various journalism institutions, helping students gain practical media exposure.

With over 35 years of experience in journalism, Mishra has spent 24 years in television and 11 years in print. He has reported for prominent newspapers such as Prabhat Khabar, Amar Ujala, The Times of India, and Hindustan Times, and held senior editorial roles at major television networks like Zee News, India 24x7, Network18, and Jan Tantra TV.

During his tenure with Zee Media, Mishra served as the Political Editor for its regional channels and played a key role in launching state-specific channels in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan. At Network18, he was the Consulting Editor responsible for the integration of the ETV network.

A native of Lucknow, Mishra graduated from Lucknow Christian College and pursued post-graduation in Western History from Lucknow University. He began his journalism career in 1988 with an English daily in Ranchi, followed by stints at Prabhat Khabar and Amar Ujala. In 1995, he joined The Times of India in Lucknow, and later moved to Hindustan Times in 1997.

Mishra transitioned to electronic media in 1999, contributing reports for Zee News from Lucknow until 2000. He then joined Reliance Industries, where he served as Head of News and Current Affairs Content from August 2000 to April 2003, before returning to Zee Media in 2008.

Apart from journalism, Vashindra Mishra is an author of three books: Encounter with Politics, Sach ke Muqabil, and Duniya ke Tanashahon ki Dastan. He has also been honoured by the Kashi Vidwat Parishad for his fearless and impartial journalism.
