Senior TV journalist Vashindra Mishra has joined the team of Hindi news channel News India. Speaking to Samachar4Media, Vashindra Mishra said he has joined as Director (News).
Vashindra Mishra previously served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hindi news channel Jantantra TV, from which he resigned some time ago. Mishra has previously served on Jantantra TV twice. During his first stint, he served as Editor-in-Chief.
He is also credited with bringing the channel back on air in January 2019. After nearly two years with the channel, he resigned in 2020. During his second stint in 2023, he joined the channel as Director (News).
Before returning to Jantantra TV, he served as a Governor-nominated member on the governing board of Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (Jaipur). He also introduced students at various journalism universities to the practical aspects of media.
35 years of journalism experience, with a strong hold on both TV and print
Vashindra Mishra has over 35 years of experience in journalism. He has spent 24 years actively working in television media and 11 years in print media. He has reported for prestigious newspapers such as Prabhat Khabar, Amar Ujala, Times of India, and Hindustan Times. He has also held editorial leadership positions at major news networks such as Zee News, India 24x7, Network18, and Jantantra TV.
He also served as political editor for Zee Media's regional channels and played a key role in the launch of channels in states like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan. As a consulting editor at Network18, he oversaw the integration of the ETV network.
Originally from Lucknow, Vashindra Mishra graduated from Lucknow Christian College and then went on to pursue a post-graduate degree in Western History from Lucknow University. Vashindra Mishra began his career at an English newspaper in Ranchi. In 1988, he joined Prabhat Khabar, and after working there for about a year, he joined Amar Ujala in 1989.
He then moved to The Times of India, Lucknow, in 1995. After serving there for about two years, he began his new career with Hindustan Times, also in Lucknow, in 1997. He remained there for only about two years. After this, he began his efforts to enter electronic media.
During that time, he learned that Zee News needed reporting support in Lucknow. He subsequently covered several stories for Zee News from May 1999 to August 2000. Before joining Zee Media in 2008, he worked for Reliance Industries for nearly three years, where he served as content head of news and current affairs from August 2000 to April 2003.
Book writing and honors
In addition to journalism, Vashindra Mishra is also an active writer. He has written three books to date: "Encounter with Politics," "Truth ke Muqabil," and "Duniya ke Tanashahon ki Dastan." He has been honored by the Kashi Vidwat Parishad for his unbiased and fearless journalism.
