  • With over 20 years of experience, Barreto is recognized for his creative approach and brand-building skills, which the company believes will aid in its marketing transformation.
  • Esi Eggleston Bracey, who joined Unilever in 2018 and contributed to significant growth, will assist Barreto during January for a smooth transition.

Unilever has appointed Leandro Barreto as its new Chief Marketing Officer, following the decision of Esi Eggleston Bracey to step down.

Barreto, who is currently serving as CMO for Unilever’s Beauty & Wellbeing division, will now take charge of the company’s overall marketing function. In his expanded role, he will lead marketing strategies across the organisation.

With more than 20 years of experience, Barreto is known for his creative approach and ability to build strong, culturally relevant brands. The company believes he is well suited to drive the next phase of its marketing transformation and align business strategies with long-term goals.

Meanwhile, Bracey will exit the company at the end of January 2026 after spending eight years at Unilever. She joined in 2018 to head the Beauty & Personal Care business in North America, where she helped improve performance and drive growth. Later, as Chief Growth & Marketing Officer, she played an important role in reshaping how the company builds demand globally. She will work closely with Barreto during January to ensure a smooth handover.

Fernando Fernandez, CEO of Unilever, thanked Bracey for her contributions and wished her well for the future. He also expressed confidence that Barreto will make a strong impact in his new role as the company continues to strengthen its marketing and sales capabilities.
