SonyLIV has expanded Suvonkar Banerjee’s mandate, with the executive set to head Hindi Originals for the platform in addition to his existing role as Creative Director at Studio NEXT.
The move further strengthens the streamer’s focus on building a sharper and more cohesive Hindi originals slate, with Banerjee now overseeing the development and creative direction of its Hindi content pipeline while continuing to steer Studio NEXT’s creative vision.
Banerjee has joined Studio NEXT as Creative Director after a stint with Disney+ Hotstar, where he served as Editor. His expanded responsibility comes amid broader leadership restructuring at Sony Pictures Networks India.
Over the past year, SPNI has undergone a series of leadership changes and structural realignments following the appointment of Gaurav Banerjee. The transition has seen portfolio reshuffles, consolidation of roles across verticals and, in some cases, workforce rationalisation as the company recalibrates its operating structure with a sharper focus on digital growth and efficiency.
The latest development signals continued consolidation of creative leadership within SonyLIV’s digital ecosystem as the platform sharpens its originals strategy.
