Sher Singh brings new mktg head on board
The lifestyle brand has appointed Shyam Sukhramani as its Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer; his last stint was with Levi’s
Online lifestyle brand Sher Singh has appointed Shyam Sukhramani as Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer. Sukhramani has almost two decades of experience in the retail and fashion industry.
He most recently ran the Global Fashion Jeans business for Levi Strauss & Co, based out of its headquarters in San Francisco. He had joined Levi’s in 1995 and was instrumental in building the brand in India prior to his move to the global headquarters.
Commenting on Sukhramani’s appointment, Sunjay Guleria, CEO and Co-Founder, Sher Singh said, “This is an extremely exciting development in our company’s evolution and continues the unique corporate USP of bringing the world’s top Indian talent back to India. The strategy will help add critical experience to the development of the burgeoning global e-commerce market.”
In his last role, Sukhramani was responsible for marketing the Levi’s brand in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. He managed a variety of portfolios, including launching Levi’s Sykes and Dockers San Francisco in India.
On his new role, Sukhramani said, “I am excited to build Sher Singh as a global brand. India has a phenomenal tradition in textiles and apparel; it is about time that India has its own global lifestyle brand.
“Brand to consumer e-commerce is relatively nascent in India and a great starting place for Sher Singh. This will develop into a vibrant space in the near term and will be a great way to reach aspiring consumers with limited access to branded apparel,” he added.
