Shagun Seda, Senior Vice President and Head Of Marketing Creative Strategy and Communications at JioStar, is set to move to Apple India as Head of Marketing Communications, according to sources familiar with the development.
Highly placed sources have confirmed this development to e4m.
Seda’s transition comes shortly after her exit from JioStar, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the brand narrative and marketing strategy for one of the country’s largest media and entertainment conglomerates. Her next move, now understood to be with Apple India, marks a high-profile shift from the broadcast and streaming ecosystem to one of the world’s most influential technology brands.
At JioStar, Seda was part of the core leadership team that built the foundational brand strategy for the merged entity combining Viacom18 and Star India. The joint venture, backed by Reliance and Disney, commands a massive digital and television footprint, with over 450 million monthly active users.
She led marketing communications and creative strategy for a wide portfolio of sports and live entertainment properties, including the Indian Premier League, ICC tournaments, Pro Kabaddi League, Wimbledon, and the Olympics. Her work extended beyond sports into large-scale cultural and experiential initiatives, including the digital livestream of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour in India, which drew millions of viewers and significant engagement.
One of her standout contributions was leading the marketing strategy for IPL 2025 across television and digital platforms, helping deliver one of the most-watched seasons in the tournament’s history, with a combined audience of around one billion viewers. Her role also involved pioneering digital-first experiences, such as livestreaming major Indian festivals like Mahashivratri and Ram Navami on JioHotstar, positioning connected devices as “virtual temples” for millions of users.
Before JioStar, Seda was a key member of the leadership team at Netflix India, where she served as Head of Brand, Film and Series Marketing. During her tenure, she was instrumental in repositioning Netflix from a premium, niche offering to a more culturally resonant and accessible brand in India. Her campaigns for global titles such as Money Heist and Stranger Things drove significant engagement and helped expand the platform’s subscriber base.
She has also held leadership roles at leading creative agencies including DDB Mudra Group, TBWA India, and MullenLowe Lintas Group, building a strong reputation for integrating creative storytelling with business outcomes.
Her move to Apple India comes at a time when the company is deepening its focus on the Indian market, both from a manufacturing and consumer engagement perspective.
