Renowned journalist and senior news anchor Sanket Upadhyay has stepped down from all responsibilities at digital media platform The Red Mike, where he previously served as director and co-founder.
In a conversation with Samachaar4media, Sanket Upadhyay confirmed his departure from "The Red Mic." Upadhyay stated that he made this decision for personal reasons. He currently wants to spend more time with his family. According to Upadhyay, "It's not yet clear what I'll do next, but journalism is and will always be my love. Let's see what life takes." It's also worth noting that Sanket Upadhyay's mother passed away just last month.

Speaking about Sanket Upadhyay's career, he left NDTV in October 2023. At that time, he had been serving as a consulting editor for the organization for about four and a half years.
During that time, he began his second stint with NDTV in 2019. He appeared on both NDTV 24X7 and NDTV India. He was the face of NDTV India's 9 pm prime time show, "Khabron Ki Khabar." Sanket also hosted "Muqabla," the oldest debate show in Hindi news, and "The Big Fight," the country's oldest debate show in English.
Sanket Upadhyay began his career as a print journalist with the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) in 2002. He then moved to Jaipur and joined the Hindustan Times newspaper, where he worked as a city reporter for about two years.
In 2005, he entered the television world with NDTV. He began on the city desk and later became the Lucknow bureau head of NDTV's English channel, NDTV 24x7. Sanket was just 23 years old when he was given this important responsibility.
In 2008, Sanket moved to Delhi and worked with the English channel Times Now for approximately five and a half years. He joined as a principal correspondent and, when he resigned in 2014, was working as a deputy news editor. During this tenure, Sanket covered almost all major events, from floods to elections and riots. In addition to anchoring his 7 o'clock show, he also frequently hosted the NewsHour in the absence of the channel's then-editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami.
In 2014, Sanket joined the India Today Group as Output Incharge. Here, he served as both a reporter and anchor. Among other important roles, he also hosted the show "First Up."
Subsequently, Sanket Upadhyay joined CNN News 18 in 2016 as Deputy Executive Editor. He played a key role in all of the channel's daytime operations. He also hosted the evening prime-time show. Following this, he began his second stint with NDTV, where he co-founded the digital media venture, The Red Mic, nearly two years after resigning.
