Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has appointed noted lyricist and communication expert Prasoon Joshi as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati.

Joshi is widely known for his work across literature, advertising, films, and public communication. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation for creating meaningful content, including popular film songs, impactful ad campaigns, and stories that connect with audiences across India.

Congratulating him on the appointment, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, praised Joshi’s creative talent and deep connection to Indian culture. He expressed confidence that Joshi’s leadership will bring fresh ideas and renewed direction to Prasar Bharati.

Before taking on this role, Joshi served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification since August 2017, where he worked on improving certification processes while balancing creative freedom and regulatory needs. He has also held leadership positions such as CEO of McCann World Group India and Chairman of McCann World Group Asia Pacific. In addition, he has been a trustee at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts since 2016.

With his diverse experience in creative fields and communication, Joshi is expected to bring a fresh approach to Prasar Bharati, especially at a time when public broadcasting is adapting to changing technology and audience preferences.
