  • Harshvardhan Bhatkuly, chairman of Business Goa, has significantly contributed to Goa's entrepreneurial landscape through his publication, which has been a platform for local businesses since 2009.
  • Business Goa has published over 200 issues, focusing on the achievements and challenges of entrepreneurs, and aims to broaden Goa's identity beyond tourism.
  • Bhatkuly has initiated the Business Goa Awards for Corporate Excellence, celebrating entrepreneurial success and leadership in the region since 2012.
  • In addition to his publishing work, Bhatkuly has held leadership roles in various industry organizations, promoting professional development and connecting Goa's business community with broader networks.

In a state celebrated for its beaches, tourism and vibrant cultural heritage, Harshvardhan Bhatkuly has spent much of his professional life highlighting another equally important dimension of Goa — its entrepreneurial spirit. As the chairman of Business Goa, a lawyer, writer and active participant in industry organisations, Bhatkuly has carved out a distinctive space in the state's business and intellectual landscape.

As he recently celebrated his birthday, the occasion offers an opportunity to reflect on a journey defined by entrepreneurship, institution-building and a sustained commitment to Goa's business community.

At the centre of Bhatkuly's professional journey is Business Goa, a publication he has led since its inception in 2009. Conceived as a platform dedicated to the state's entrepreneurs, businesses and changemakers, the magazine has established itself as an important voice in Goa's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Over more than 17 years, the publication has brought out over 200 issues, documenting the ambitions, challenges and achievements of businesses operating across the state. At a time when Goa's identity was largely associated with tourism, Business Goa sought to broaden the narrative by bringing entrepreneurs, business leaders and emerging enterprises into the spotlight.

For Bhatkuly, publishing has extended beyond chronicling business developments. It has also been about creating platforms that recognise excellence and encourage entrepreneurship.

One of his significant initiatives has been the Business Goa Awards for Corporate Excellence, which he conceptualised and has hosted since 2012. With 14 editions organised, the awards have become a platform for celebrating entrepreneurial achievement, corporate leadership and contributions to Goa's economic development.

His professional interests, however, extend well beyond publishing.

A law graduate from V M Salgaocar College of Law, Bhatkuly began his legal career in 2003 and has continued practising as an advocate while pursuing his interests in business, media and leadership.

He also served as a director of Savoir Faire Newscorp Pvt Ltd from July 2009 to July 2026, reflecting his long association with the publishing industry.

Bhatkuly's commitment to strengthening Goa's business ecosystem is equally evident in his involvement with prominent industry bodies.

He served as chairman of the Goa Management Association between September 2018 and September 2020, leading an organisation dedicated to management thought leadership and professional development.

Earlier, from 2015 to 2019, he chaired the Media and Entertainment Committee of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has also remained associated with the Chamber's managing committee and serves on the board of TiE Panjim, an organisation focused on fostering entrepreneurship and supporting emerging business leaders.

His involvement with the Confederation of Global Goan Entrepreneurs (COGGE) further underlines his interest in connecting Goa's entrepreneurial community with wider business networks.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bhatkuly is known for his intellectual curiosity and diverse interests. A keen quizzer, writer and communicator, he is also a winner of the Tata Crucible Business Quiz. These pursuits reflect a personality whose interests extend across law, business, knowledge and public engagement.

What makes Bhatkuly's journey noteworthy is the consistency with which he has invested his energies in building institutions and platforms rather than merely pursuing individual professional milestones.

Through Business Goa, industry associations and entrepreneurial initiatives, he has helped create spaces where business achievements are recognised, ideas are exchanged and emerging entrepreneurs find visibility.

His career also illustrates how regional business journalism can play a meaningful role in shaping economic conversations. By giving entrepreneurs a platform to tell their stories, publications such as Business Goa contribute to a wider understanding of the enterprises and individuals driving regional growth.

As Harshvardhan Bhatkuly marks another birthday, his journey stands as a testament to the value of perseverance, intellectual curiosity and institution-building.

For someone who has dedicated a substantial part of his professional life to celebrating the achievements of others, his birthday is also an occasion to acknowledge his own contribution to Goa's entrepreneurial landscape.

And perhaps that remains the defining theme of his journey — not simply building a successful publication, but helping build a stronger voice for business and entrepreneurship in Goa.
