Ogilvy has roped in Lowe veteran Aniruddha Deb as Vice President and Business Head for its Delhi office. Deb will head Vodafone business for Ogilvy along with other accounts such as Ministry of Tourism, KFC, Yahoo, Hindustan and Cisco. In a related development, Sharmistha Dev who was heading some of these businesses earlier, has now been given the charge of brand David, Ogilvy’s sister agency, in Delhi.
Deb will report directly to Sanjay Thapar, Group President, North and East, Ogilvy.
Speaking on Deb’s appointment, Thapar said, “Aniruddha has handled multinational businesses and comes with experience from national as well as international markets. We had been looking for someone with that kind of expertise. Now that Sharmistha has been given the charge of brand David, it was the right time to bring him on board to spearhead these important businesses for us.”
Talking about his appointment, Deb said, “It’s a home coming for me after spending four years away from India. Having spent my entire advertising career with Lowe, little over a decade now, Sanjay’s vision for this place inspired me. The young and fresh thinking of Ogilvy makes it the right place for me.”
Deb joins Ogilvy with more than 10 years of experience in advertising leadership roles across key categories including FMCG, consumer durables, banking and automobiles. He has spent most of his advertising years with Lowe worldwide, across Thailand (Bangkok), Singapore and India.
