Milee Ashwarya, Publisher and Group Senior Vice President at Penguin Random House India, has completed 18 years with the publishing house.
Ashwarya joined Penguin Random House India in September 2008 as Publisher, Ebury Publishing and Vintage Publishing, a role she held for more than 14 years. In January 2023, she took on the role of Senior Vice President and Publisher, Adult Publishing Group, before being elevated to Publisher and Group Senior Vice President in January 2026.
In a LinkedIn post marking the milestone, Ashwarya reflected on her journey, saying she has witnessed the publishing landscape evolve, navigated industry challenges, worked with debut writers and launched multiple imprints for Indian readers.
She said she is particularly proud of building a publishing programme that reflects India’s linguistic, cultural and intellectual diversity while continuing to bring new voices and ideas to readers.
Ashwarya currently leads Penguin India’s Adult Publishing Group, overseeing 13 imprints including Allen Lane, Hamish Hamilton, Vintage, Viking, Penguin Classics and Penguin Business.
She also thanked authors, colleagues, booksellers and readers for being part of her 18-year journey.
