After nearly three decades with Ogilvy, Lorraine Martin, one of the agency’s most respected leaders, has announced her retirement. Having joined Ogilvy on March 3, 1997, Lorraine’s career spans 27 years of exemplary service in public relations and corporate communications.
Over the years, Lorraine became synonymous with Ogilvy’s communications practice, leading with a rare blend of grace, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. She played a pivotal role in building Ogilvy’s PR reputation, shaping its corporate narrative, and nurturing strong media relationships, many of which blossomed into personal friendships.
In her farewell note, Lorraine expressed heartfelt gratitude to the many journalists, colleagues, and partners who made her journey meaningful. “Most of these are memories of wonderful interactions with journalists, some of whom I can today call ‘friends’,” she wrote.
Ogilvy, in an internal communication, acknowledged Lorraine as a key pillar of the agency’s legacy and culture. From launching several ‘firsts’ for the agency to mentoring others with patience and passion, her contributions have left a lasting imprint.
As she steps away from professional life, Lorraine looks forward to “a long stretch of lazy days and lazy nights”, with no emails, calls, or timezone-bound schedules.
Going forward, Shoaib Alim, who has been with Ogilvy for over 10 years, will take on the role of Ogilvy India’s media point of contact.
Lorraine Martin’s retirement marks the end of an era for Ogilvy, and the beginning of a well-deserved, restful new chapter for a communications veteran who has given it her all.
