  • Kalyan Kumar has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Central Bank of India, succeeding M. V. Rao, who retired on July 31, 2025.
  • Prior to this role, Kumar served as Executive Director at Punjab National Bank since October 2021, where he led various strategic initiatives.

Kalyan Kumar has assumed charge as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Central Bank of India.

He succeeds M. V. Rao, who retired from the position on July 31, 2025.

Before taking over at Central Bank of India, Kumar served as Executive Director at Punjab National Bank, a role he held from October 2021.

Kumar began his banking career in 1995 as a Rural Development Officer with Union Bank of India. Over the years, he has held several leadership positions and gained extensive experience across different areas of banking.

During his tenure at Union Bank of India, he played a key role in the successful merger of Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank with Union Bank.

At Punjab National Bank, Kumar was responsible for leading several strategic initiatives, including digital transformation, strategic planning, economic research, data analytics, and information technology. His experience in driving innovation and operational excellence is expected to support Central Bank of India's future growth and transformation.
