Ashwani Kumar, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been appointed as the Director of the Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication (DITEC) in Assam.
His responsibilities will include development and enhancement of critical IT infrastructure in the state, including the State Wide Area Network (SWAN), State Data Centre (SDC), and Common Services Centre (CSC). His role will also involve promoting investments in the state's IT sector by facilitating the establishment of IT parks and Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) clusters. His responsibilities include implementing the state’s IT Policy, IT Acts, ESD Rules, and Cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring a robust digital framework, according to media reports.
Kumar is an alumnus of IIT Madras with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
