- Sashidhar Jagdishan, Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Bank, will retire on 26 October 2026 and will not seek reappointment.
- He communicated his decision to the bank's board, which acknowledged it during a recent meeting.
- Jagdishan has been with HDFC Bank since 1996 and has held various key positions, including MD & CEO since 27 October 2020.
- He played a significant role in the bank's merger with HDFC and has over 30 years of experience in the banking sector, including three years at Deutsche Bank AG.
Sashidhar Jagdishan, Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Bank, has decided not to seek reappointment and will retire from the bank on 26 October 2026.
HDFC Bank on Saturday said Jagdishan conveyed his decision to the board, which took note of his communication at its meeting, according to the regulatory filing.
Jagdishan assumed office as HDFC Bank’s MD & CEO on 27 October 2020. He joined the bank in 1996 as a manager in the Finance department and went on to become Business Head - Finance in 1999 and Chief Financial Officer in 2008.
He led the bank’s finance function for 12 years and played a key role in aligning the organisation with its strategic objectives. He was also instrumental in the successful completion of HDFC Bank’s merger with Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC).
In 2019, he was appointed Strategic Change Agent of HDFC Bank and was given additional responsibility for Legal & Secretarial, Human Resources, Corporate Communication, Infrastructure & Administration, and CSR.
Jagdishan has over 30 years of experience, including 27 years with HDFC Bank. Before joining the bank, he worked with Deutsche Bank AG, Mumbai, for three years.
