- Diageo has appointed Dave Lewis as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026, succeeding Debra Crew who stepped down in July.
- Lewis has over 30 years of experience in consumer goods and retail, currently serving as Chair of Haleon and a board member at PepsiCo, with a notable past as CEO of Tesco from 2014 to 2020.
- He was awarded a knighthood in the 2021 New Year Honours List for his contributions to business and the food industry in the UK.
- Interim CEO Nik Jhangiani will lead Diageo until the end of 2025, after which he will return to his role as Chief Financial Officer, with Dierdre Mahlan assisting in the transition as interim CFO.
Diageo has reportedly named Dave Lewis as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will take over from Debra Crew, who stepped down from the role in July.
Lewis brings over 30 years of experience across the consumer goods and retail industries. He currently serves as Chair of consumer healthcare company Haleon and is a board member at PepsiCo. He is also Chairman of Xlinks, a privately held renewable energy firm. Earlier in his career, Lewis spent nearly three decades at Unilever, starting as a graduate trainee and eventually becoming part of the Global Executive Team, first as President of the Americas and later as Global President of Personal Care. After leaving Unilever, he went on to lead Tesco as CEO from 2014 to 2020.
In recognition of his contributions to business and the food industry in the UK, Lewis was awarded a knighthood in the 2021 New Year Honours List.
Lewis is set to assume the CEO role on January 1, 2026. Until then, interim CEO Nik Jhangiani will continue to lead the company through the end of 2025 before returning to his position as Chief Financial Officer. Dierdre Mahlan, who recently rejoined Diageo as interim CFO, will continue with the company to help ensure a smooth leadership transition.
