Alok Gupta, Director at Graphisads Ltd, turns 40 today, marking a milestone that reflects both his personal journey and nearly two decades of leadership in building a professionally driven organisation within India’s out-of-home (OOH) advertising ecosystem.

A Business Studies graduate from the University of Birmingham (UK), Gupta completed his Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration and Management before pursuing postgraduation from the SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai, specialising in Family Managed Business. Over the years, he has also regularly undertaken short-term courses from prestigious institutions to continuously upgrade his skills and stay aligned with evolving business practices.

He is the son of Mukesh Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Graphisads, widely regarded as a visionary leader who has played a pivotal role in transforming India’s advertising and outdoor media landscape. Carrying forward this legacy, Alok Gupta has emerged as a marketing services entrepreneur and investor, contributing to the evolution and expansion of the business.

Gupta joined Graphisads in August 2006 and has since spent over 19 years as Director, where he has focused on bringing accountability and professionalism across all functions of the organisation.

He has built a professional team and implemented structured systems and processes that have enabled the promoters to expand operations into new verticals. His leadership tenure has also seen the company achieve key milestones, including its IPO, high-profile brand partnerships, and award-winning work.

At the core of his leadership philosophy lies a strong belief in the role of professionals in driving business efficiency. “The management’s role should be to manage and that is what professionals do better; the promoters should set the company vision and align all to it,” Gupta says, describing it as a guiding mantra that has shaped his approach over the years.

Known for his people-first mindset, Gupta emphasises unlocking the best in individuals and leading teams towards clearly defined goals. His global exposure, spanning regions such as Europe, CIS, UAE, and China, has further informed his outlook on leadership and business strategy.

Beyond his corporate role, Gupta has been actively involved in several industry and entrepreneurial networks. He served as Chair of the Delhi Chapter of Young Indians and remains connected with multiple associations including EO, CII, IAN, Rotary, Round Table, CREDAI, and The Indus Entrepreneurs. With a strong inclination towards networking and knowledge exchange, he actively engages with professionals across sectors to learn from diverse experiences.

Gupta is also an active speaker at seminars and podcasts, where he shares insights on a range of topics, and maintains a consistent presence on social media, offering his perspectives on business and current affairs.

Looking ahead, Gupta has outlined ambitions to incubate businesses that are socially relevant, building them from the ground up while contributing to the nation’s growth.

As part of this vision, he continues to seek professionals with strong marketing skill sets who are willing to transition into entrepreneurship. “It’s a tough world out there, but those who are genuine enough shall always win,” he notes.

As he turns 40, Gupta’s journey underscores a blend of structured management, continuous learning, and a long-term commitment to building people, processes, and purpose-led enterprises.
