The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has scheduled a meeting on 10 September 2025 under the chairmanship of the Additional Secretary to deliberate on a draft Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the broadcasting sector.
The meeting, to be held in hybrid mode at PIB Hall, Shastri Bhawan, will focus on reducing import dependence and boosting indigenous manufacturing of broadcasting and media equipment.
The agenda includes identifying high-value and high-volume equipment currently being imported by the M&E sector, mapping HSN codes and import values year-wise, and drawing up a list of probable items for local manufacturing with an emphasis on forex savings and strategic importance. Stakeholders have also been asked to share feasibility assessments, bottlenecks in sourcing locally manufactured equipment, and expectations of government support to enable domestic production.
The deliberations are expected to shape the roadmap for a PLI framework tailored for the broadcasting sector, with targets for turnover growth, adoption of locally made equipment, and measures to strengthen India’s self-reliance in media technology.
