I&B Ministry issues notice to all TV channels not to air Nirbhaya’s documentary

NDTV was to air Nirbhaya’s documentary on Women’s Day.

The documentary sparks controversy after different news channels started tweeting about the documentary saying it’s disrespectful towards Nirbhaya.

People posted mixed reaction on social media. Times Now tweeted by posting, “Debating tonight on @thenewshour: Spreading views of a rapist? Voyeurism, not journalism! #NirbhayaInsulted”

On the other hand Vikram Chandra, Group CEO of NDTV, tweeted, “When the outrage industry watches NDTV at 8 pm tonight, they will feel rather stupid. Should watch the programme before ranting.”

While Delhi Police has filed an FIR in connection with this interview and also plans to move court to seek a restrain order its airing. Nobody has been named in the FIR but media reports suggested that, “Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi maintained that the main actor is the person who has made these assertions and urged the media not to broadcast any assertion which transgresses the domain of law.”
