The Delhi High Court has denied a request to temporarily stop Galactic Television and Communications Pvt Ltd (GTC Punjabi) from re-broadcasting the live Gurbani feed from Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and PTC sought the court's intervention, claiming GTC Punjabi lacked authorization for the transmission.
The court found no grounds for an interim restriction, noting potential statutory exemptions and that viewers do not pay for the Gurbani broadcast.
The case will be revisited by the Delhi High Court on September 23, 2026, allowing GTC Punjabi to continue airing the prayers in the meantime.

The Delhi High Court has declined to temporarily restrain Galactic Television and Communications Pvt Ltd from re-broadcasting the live Gurbani feed from Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, according to media reports,

The court’s decision allows GTC Punjabi to continue airing the daily prayers from the Golden Temple while the broader legal dispute over the transmission rights is heard.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and PTC had approached the court seeking a halt to GTC Punjabi’s re-transmission of the SGPC feed, contending that the channel lacked the requisite authorisation. However, the court reportedly found no grounds to impose an interim restriction at this stage, observing that statutory exemptions could be relevant to the matter. It also took note of the fact that viewers are not charged for accessing the Gurbani broadcast.

The case is scheduled to come up again before the Delhi High Court on September 23, 2026. Until then, GTC Punjabi can continue its Gurbani telecast, as the dispute between SGPC, PTC and GTC Punjabi over the rights and distribution of the feed remains unresolved.
