Dabur Vatika Zee Marathi Award 2005 recognises Marathi television talent

Putting the havoc wreaked by record-breaking rains behind them, the entire Marathi television industry turned up at the Dabur Vatika Zee Marathi Award ceremony, which was held in Mumbai on August 5.

Into its second year, the Zee Marathi Award 2005 recognised talent across 22 categories. Jaysingh Rajput (Vadalvaat) bagged the Best Character – Male award, while the female winner in the same category was Rama Choudhari (also for Vadalvaat). Mohan Ajgaonkar (Saheb Bibi Aani Mee) won the Best Comedian award for tickling the funny bone of the audience.

Raj (Misha) and Chirag (Ankur) jointly won the Best Child Artist award. Vadalvaat also won the award for the Best Title Song. Rama Choudhari won the Dabur Vatika Best Heroine award.

It seems that the organisers had an award for every conceivable category, there were awards for Best Father, Best Mother, Best Family, Best Couple and so on.

The awards were adjudged based on viewers’ choice. Zee Marathi had distributed more than three lakh entry forms to viewers to vote for their favourite characters, actors and serials.

What was different about the whole event was that all production houses from Zee Marathi carried out innovative campaigns to reach the audience and interact with the common people.

For example, the ‘Sahib Bibi Aani Mee’ team had visited the Lalbaug market, while actress Varsha Usgaonkar went to Kolhapur. The ‘Vadalvaat’ team had visited the Siddhivinayak temple to meet the hardcore audience of Zee Marathi.

The channel also provided SMS facility to enable the viewers to cast their votes.
