In a major shift to its TV viewership data reporting format, BARC India has announced that it will discontinue the release of data on a four-week rolling average basis. Effective Week 24 of 2025 (14th to 20th June), the industry body will now publish weekly viewership estimates starting June 26, 2025. This had been a longstanding demand from several news broadcasters.

“The decision, taken pursuant to a BARC India Board directive and following necessary clearances, marks a return to weekly reporting for all genres—offering more current and granular insights to stakeholders,” stated an internal note.

However, unrolled data of channels which was not released to the ecosystem during the "rolled data period" (Week 10'22 to Week 23'25), would not be retrospectively made available to subscribers.

BARC has cautioned users against directly comparing Average Daily Reach Share (ADRS) or other metrics derived from rolled data with the new unrolled weekly data, due to methodological differences that may affect trending and interpretation.
