India Today TV’s flagship prime-time show ‘Democratic Newsroom’ has clinched the No.1 spot at both 8 PM and 9 PM, according to BARC Week 21, 2025 data.
The data is for mega cities with male viewers aged 22 and above from socio economic audience segments A and B.
At 8 PM, the show led by news anchor Gaurav Sawant and the 9pm slot hosted by Rajdeep Sardesai continues its dominant streak with the highest viewer engagement in its time slot, said sources.
Backed by BARC viewership metrics, this leadership underscores India Today TV’s commanding presence in the fiercely competitive English news space, especially during prime-time weekday broadcasts.
India Today TV launched the show on September 23, 2022 with an aim to give news anchors free rein to present their diversified viewpoints about the same issue across the table.
At the time of launch, the show’s promise was that ‘A Democratic Newsroom has many voices but one responsibility - to keep the news honest. India Today goes above and beyond TRP ratings bringing you a true democracy, one where every shade of opinion is respected and given space.’
