Paying homage to Shah, Gujarat Governor, Nawal Kishore Sharma, described him as a committed journalist who worked till the last moments of his life. Chief Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep sorrow and condolences on Shah’s demise and said that Gujarat had lost a senior journalist who was sensitive to the interests of the people of the state.
The veteran journalist began his career with an advertising agency way back in 1938. He joined Gujarat Samachar in 1947, which was then owned by a different promoter. Three years later, Shah became the owner of the paper.
Shah’s contribution to the daily’s growth in general and the media industry in particular was tremendous. Under his stewardship, the daily quickly branched out to Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat in Gujarat, as well as in Mumbai.
