S4 Capital acquires San Francisco-based programmatic advertising group, MightyHive

According to S4 Capital, the acquisition is part of its plans of forming a new media business incorporating data, content and technology

Sir Martin Sorrell’s S4 Capital has acquired San Francisco-based programmatic advertising group, MightyHive. According to media reports, a message on the website of MightyHive confirmed the news.

Founded in 2012, MightyHive claims to be one of the fastest-growing programmatic buyers in the world. Its clientele includes enterprise marketing organisations, agencies and mid-sized marketers; and has worked with firms like Bayer and Sprint in areas like digital media planning and buying.

It is the second acquisition for S4 Capital after they purchased production house MediaMonks. Recently the firm poached former GroupM’s Global Chief Growth Officer, Performance Media Group, Michel de Rijk, as its Chief Executive Officer for APAC.

According to S4 Capital, the acquisition is part of its plans of forming a new media business incorporating data, content and technology. In a the statement confirming the talks, S4 Capital said, “The Board of the Company notes the recent press speculation and confirms that it is in advanced discussions in relation to the potential acquisition of MightyHive, Inc. (the “Potential Transaction”). The Potential Transaction, if consummated, would be in line with the Company’s stated strategy of creating a new era, new media solution embracing data, content and technology in an always-on environment for global, multi-national, regional and local clients and for millennial-driven digital brands.”
