IPG posts $85.4 mn Q1 loss as revenue drops 6.9%

The Interpublic Group posts $85.4 mn Q1 loss; hit by restructuring costs Interpublic Group (IPG) reported total revenue of $2.3 billion ($2,322.6 million) for the first quarter of 2025, including billable expenses, which was a decline of 6.9% from $2.49 billion ($2,495.9 million) in previous year. However, organic net revenue, excluding billable expenses, declined by 3.6% year-over-year.

In its key U.S. market, IPG posted a 4.0% decline in organic revenue, while international markets saw a slightly better performance, with a 2.6% dip in organic growth.

The holding company reported a net loss of $85.4 million for the quarter, compared to a net income of $113.6 million in the same period last year, a decline of approximately 175%. This figure includes charges related to strategic restructuring efforts and costs associated with recent IPG-Omnicom business activities. 

Excluding those restructuring and deal-related charges, IPG’s adjusted EBITA stood at $186.5 million, translating to a 9.3% margin on revenue before billable expenses.
