Reminiscent India Television Ltd (RITV) is planning to uplink its Gujarati language channel from India. The company is negotiating with Modern Communication and Broadcast Systems to set up an uplinking infrastructure in Gandhinagar at Gujarat by the middle of next year.

Uplinking in India, will help cover live stock market and other news events. While entertainment content will shrink to 30 per cent of the programming, news, rural development and education issues will take up the remaining content on the channel.

The introduction of rural development and news will address different segments of audience and get in advertisers from new categories like pesticides and tractors.

Gurjari will also sell slots on the channel to private producers. It has recently sold a half-hour prime time slot at 9 pm to a private producer for an investigative news-based programme.
