  • The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 saw a 39% increase in advertising volumes per match compared to 2023, despite a 26% overall decline in total advertising due to India's early exit from the tournament.
  • India remained the primary driver of advertising interest, with matches involving the Indian women's team generating 58% higher advertising volumes than non-India fixtures.
  • The number of advertising categories increased from 24 in 2024 to 27 in 2026, and the number of advertisers rose by 41%, indicating growing commercial interest in women's cricket.
  • Google emerged as the largest advertiser in 2026, contributing 16% of total advertising volumes, while shorter commercial formats (11-20 seconds) dominated the advertising landscape during the tournament.

The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 delivered significantly higher advertising intensity despite witnessing an overall decline in total advertising volumes, as broadcasters and brands concentrated spends around fewer matches and high-value fixtures, according to a report by TAM Sports.

The report found that advertising volumes per match increased by 39% compared to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023, underscoring growing advertiser confidence in women's cricket. However, overall advertising volumes during the 2026 edition were 26% lower than in the 2024 tournament, primarily because the Indian women's team did not qualify for the semi-finals, resulting in fewer high-value matches involving India.

India continued to remain the biggest driver of commercial interest during the tournament. Matches involving India generated 58% higher advertising volumes than non-India fixtures, highlighting the country's outsized influence on advertising demand and television monetisation in women's cricket.

The tournament also witnessed stronger advertiser participation. The number of advertising categories increased from 24 in 2024 to 27 in 2026, while the number of advertisers jumped from 22 to 31, representing a 41% increase. The number of brands remained largely stable, with 39 brands participating in 2026 compared with 40 in the previous edition.

According to TAM Sports, the increase in advertiser participation signals expanding commercial interest in women's cricket, even as total inventory declined due to a shorter tournament and India's early exit.

FMCG and consumer brands dominate advertising mix

The composition of advertisers also underwent a notable transformation in the 2026 edition.

Personal Care/Health & Wellness Products emerged as the largest advertising category, accounting for 15% of total ad volumes, closely followed by Biscuits, which also contributed 15%. Other leading categories included E-commerce (Other Services) with a 13% share, Corporate Financial Institutions at 12%, and Energy Drinks at 7%. Together, the top five categories accounted for 63% of advertising volumes, up from 48% in 2024, indicating increasing concentration among leading sectors.

The shift marks a significant departure from the previous edition, when gaming, paints, petroleum products, automobiles and two-wheelers dominated advertising spends.

Google emerges as biggest advertiser

Among advertisers, Google became the single largest advertiser during the tournament, contributing 16% of total advertising volumes. It was followed by Coca-Cola India and Amway India Enterprises, each with 11%, while Jindal Steel & Power accounted for 9% and Policybazaar Insurance Brokers contributed 7%.

The report noted that there was no overlap between the top five advertisers in the 2024 and 2026 editions, highlighting a complete reshuffle in the advertiser landscape. The top five advertisers together accounted for 55% of total advertising volumes in 2026, compared with 48% in the previous tournament, suggesting increased spending concentration among a handful of marketers.

A similar trend was observed at the brand level.

Google Search Engine emerged as the leading brand with a 16% share of ad volumes, followed by Jindal Panther TMT Rebars (9%), Policybazaar.com (7%), HDFC Life (7%), and Thums Up (6%). None of these brands featured among the top five during the previous edition, reflecting changing marketing priorities and category participation. Together, the top five brands accounted for 45% of advertising volumes in 2026, up from 42% in 2024.

Final attracts higher advertising intensity

Advertising intensity also strengthened during the tournament's knockout stages.

Compared with the 2024 edition, the final recorded a 17% increase in advertising volumes per match, while overall tournament advertising intensity remained higher across stages. However, the report reiterates that the absence of India in the semi-finals curtailed total advertising opportunities, offsetting gains in per-match inventory.

Short-duration commercials remain the preferred format

Advertisers continued to favour shorter commercial formats during live cricket broadcasts.

Ads lasting 11–20 seconds dominated commercial breaks, accounting for 53% of all commercials during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Commercials between 21 and 40 seconds represented 33%, while advertisements of 10 seconds or less contributed 13%. Commercials exceeding 41 seconds remained negligible, accounting for just 1% of total advertising inventory.

Women's cricket continues to strengthen commercial appeal

The findings suggest that women's cricket continues to strengthen its commercial proposition, with advertisers showing greater willingness to invest despite fewer matches and lower overall inventory. Rising advertising intensity, increased participation from advertisers, and the emergence of new sectors such as health and wellness, financial services and consumer products indicate that the tournament is attracting a broader mix of marketers.

At the same time, the report reinforces India's central role in driving advertising demand. Matches featuring the Indian women's team generated substantially higher advertising volumes than other fixtures, demonstrating that India's on-field progress remains critical to unlocking the tournament's full commercial potential.

The TAM Sports study analysed commercial advertising across all live broadcasts of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 and 2026, excluding pre-, mid- and post-match programming, promotional content, fillers, film trailers and broadcaster promotions. The analysis is based on pure commercial advertising volumes across live matches.
