Virat Kohli recently liked a post shared by a German social media personality called Liz Laz, and within minutes, screenshots began circulating across platforms, turning what could have been a minor action into a widely discussed moment.
LizLaz, who already has an established fan base in India with her unique blend of culture-related videos, such as the popular “Samosa Samosa” song, is suddenly trending in the country. The post which Kohli liked has crossed 7000 comments as compared to her other posts which usually receives around 150-200 comments.
Yuzvendra Chahal joined in on the fun as well. A comment posted by Chahal on the post said “Algorithm”, a cheeky reference to Kohli’s past explanations that accidental likes are often caused by Instagram’s algorithm.
This is not the first time that Kohli’s actions on social media have caused such a response.
Previously, actress Avneet Kaur had made headlines due to a similar occurrence when Kohli liked one of her Instagram posts. This event resulted in intense discussion, compelling Kohli to clarify himself. He said, “I'd like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding.”
Social media reactions
Social media responded almost instantly, turning the moment into a wave of humour and callbacks. Comments like “algorithm registered another interaction,” “another day, another algorithm story,” and “Kohli vs algorithm continues” began circulating widely. Others wrote “Relax guys, it’s the algorithm again,” “we’ve seen this episode before,” and “It was a technical mistake.”
Another reaction said, “Virat Kohli is human just like everyone else what’s wrong with liking someone’s photo? Stop reacting like he committed a crime. He’s just normal like all of us.”

Meanwhile, a few leaned into humour, adding “someone please update the algorithm,” and “this is becoming a series now.”
Kohli has quietly removed the like, but by then the screenshots had already spread far and wide.
Once again, this incident shows how much focus there is on Kohli’s internet activity. Given the number of people watching his every move, even the tiniest bit of interaction, whether intentional or not, quickly gets noticed, exaggerated, and commented on.
