  • PUMA has launched Project3 in India, offering 50 runners a 12-week training program aimed at achieving personal bests and qualifying for the London Marathon in 2027.
  • The initiative reflects a growing trend in India, where participation in major marathons has significantly increased, with over 500 runners breaking the three-hour marathon mark in 2025.
  • Selected participants from Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru will receive coaching, nutrition guidance, and recovery support, with five finalists chosen to compete in London.
  • PUMA has partnered with YOSKA for training and technology support, and Ultrahuman will provide performance insights, emphasizing the evolving ambitions of Indian runners. Applications are open until October 25, 2026, for those with specific marathon personal bests.

Global sports brand PUMA has brought Project3 to India, giving 50 runners a chance to pursue marathon personal bests and find a pathway to a top marathon in London in 2027. The programme arrives as more Indians take on the world’s biggest races: participation across the six World Marathon Majors rose from 459 in 2014 to 1,673 in 2025, according to independent running publication Geeks On Feet. More than 500 Indian runners also broke the three-hour mark in the marathon in 2025.

The India programme will select 50 runners from Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru for a 12-week training cycle leading up top marathon in Mumbai in January 2027. They will receive coaching and guidance on nutrition and recovery as they pursue personal bests. Five participants will then be selected to run a marathon in London in April 2027.

“There is a clear shift in the ambition of runners in India,” said Ram Sridharan, Managing Director, PUMA India. “More runners are chasing faster times and personal bests, and looking at the world’s major marathons as their next challenge. Project3 is about backing that ambition with the kind of support that can make a real difference to performance.”

PUMA has partnered with YOSKA as Project3 India’s Training and Technology Partner. YOSKA founder and CEO Deepak Raj, an accomplished long-distance runner, will serve as head coach.

“India’s running community is evolving rapidly, and so is the ambition of its runners,” said Raj. “There is no shortage of talent or aspiration, and PUMA Project3 creates an opportunity to give ambitious Indian runners the support, expertise, and belief to take that ambition to the world stage.”

Ultrahuman joins Project3 India as Wearables Partner, bringing performance insights to the runners’ preparation.

Launched globally in 2025, Project3 has supported close to 1,000 runners pursuing marathon personal bests. Its India edition responds to a growing need among ambitious endurance runners for structured training and performance support. The Mumbai-to-London journey gives five of them an opportunity to carry that progress onto one of the world’s biggest marathon stages.

Applicants must have a marathon personal best between 3:15 and 3:45 for men, or between 3:30 and 4:00 for women. Last date of entry is October 25, 2026.
