The clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings on April 5, 2026, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with RCB putting up a commanding total of 250 before restricting CSK to 207, delivered high drama on the field and plenty of viral moments off it.

At the centre of the conversation was Virat Kohli, who produced one of the most talked-about shots of the season. Facing a full delivery, Kohli flicked the ball for a six and, in a rare show of confidence, did not even turn to watch it sail over the boundary. The “no-look six” quickly became the defining visual of the match.

While his innings itself was relatively brief, the audacity of the shot ensured it dominated highlight reels. The moment gained further traction when cameras captured Anushka Sharma reacting from the stands, applauding the shot, adding another layer to its virality.

Another moment that spread rapidly was the celebration of an energetic RCB fan girl seated in the audience. Caught on camera right after RCB’s win, the young supporter was seen bursting with joy and playfully teasing a visibly disappointed CSK fan sitting nearby. Her unfiltered excitement and cheeky banter perfectly captured the passionate rivalry between the two fan bases and quickly became one of the most-shared fan videos of the match.

Reactions online reflected that contrast. Comments like “RCB fans vs CSK fans in one frame,” while others joked, “one is celebrating, the other is questioning life choices.” Another user wrote, “this is exactly how rivalry feels in real life,” capturing why the clip resonated so widely.

Brands also joined the conversation after RCB win by putting out celebratory posts, but it was a Zomato’s X post that went viral. Shortly after RCB’s victory, Zomato posted a light-hearted comparison stating “Bengaluru sambar > Chennai sambar,” referencing the symbolic association of sambar with Chennai’s South Indian cuisine.

The post drew more than a million views along with strong responses from CSK supporters, some of whom threatened to switch to Swiggy in protest. A user said, “Boycotting Zomato, Swiggy you gained one customer today.”

Another said, “Swiggy > Zomato each day any day.”

The RCB versus CSK clash is a reminder of how the IPL has evolved into more than just a sporting event. The match may end on the field, but its life continues through clips, reactions and narratives that unfold across platforms.

With the tournament moving quickly, attention now shifts to the next fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, where the focus will return to on-field action, but if recent matches are anything to go by, the internet will be watching just as closely for its next viral moment.
