Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos promo brings together Aamir Khan, Sunil Grover and Vir Das in a setup driven by impersonation and role reversal, opening with the Aamir Khan being escorted out amid on-screen confusion.
The video begins with a scene of actual Aamir Khan being led out of a room, creating an immediate sense of confusion as to what is happening and what is going on. This leads on to a flashback where Grover as an Aamir Khan lookalike is shown dressed and styled like the star, and maintaining a demeanor that highlights confidence and authority in the character.
Grover’s character is quite outspoken about success and future in relation to Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. Vir Das responds to him with a bit of doubt in the beginning but eventually seems to agree on the claims made by his character. When the real Aamir Khan finally appears, there is a further twist in the conversation, which goes on with the lookalike still being treated as the person in power while real Aamir Khan is escorted out.
The video has also drawn comments linking it to marketing strategy. One user wrote, “No other Indian actor is better at self-deprecating humour than #AamirKhan He also knows how to turn this into a great marketing proposition. And #SunilGrover is a powerhouse of talent.” Another followed up with, “Marketing genius #AamirKhan and the talent genius #sunilgrover.”

Another user commented, “Aamir KhanX Sunil Grover face of is finally here.”
This promo followed up on an earlier performance of Sunil Grover on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where Grover featured in a skit and imitated Aamir Khan’s way of talking, his body language, and his style in general. The video went viral with reaction flooding the internet. It could be noticed that many users were shocked with his performance, and they expressed their views that his acting was remarkable, and he imitated the actor so accurately in a manner that some of them felt he was actually Aamir Khan for a split second, “I actually thought it's Aamir in the first look. Crazyyyy talent this guyyyy Sunil.” Some even declared the performance award winning, “This man deserves an award.”

Aamir Khan himself reacted favourably to the mimicry act done by Grover, as he stated that he felt as if "he is seeing himself" when he witnessed the clip and that he "laughed the loudest." Talking in an interview with Bollywood Hungama regarding the performance, Aamir stated that there was no ill intent in the mimicry.
Taken together, both instances place Grover’s Aamir Khan performance in different contexts. When it appears on television, it has been staged as an act of imitation. In the video with Vir Das and Aamir Khan, the same portrayal is used within a scripted situation built around mistaken identity and shifting authority. The common thread across both formats is the authenticity of the impersonation, which allows it to function without additional explanation.
