YouTube tests TikTok alternative 'Shorts' in India
The YouTube homepage now features a row for short videos, which can be swiped vertically from one video to the next
After Instagram, video-sharing giant YouTube will be launching a short video format app 'Shorts' to as a TikTok alternative in India. The platform made the announcement on its official blog: " That’s why we’re excited to announce that we are building YouTube Shorts, a new short-form video experience right on YouTube for creators and artists who want to shoot short, catchy videos using nothing but their mobile phones."
The platform is in the midst of launching an early beta of Shorts with a few creation tools to test it. The app will let content creators upload 15-second-long clips. It will comprise a multi-segment camera to "string" multiple video clips together.

There will be an option to record with music from a large library of songs. Users can also avail of speed control for videos along with a timer and countdown for hands-free recording.
"We also recently rolled-out a prominent new spot for the create icon on Android, starting in India. We'll continue to expand to iOS devices and in more countries soon. You can also expect more creation features in the coming months," read the post.
