WhatsApp is rolling out a new bundle of features just in time for the holidays. The update includes missed call messages, fun Status stickers, improved Meta AI image generation, and more, making it easier than ever for users to connect with those who matter most.
Missed Call Messages: During the busy holiday season, it’s easy to miss a call. WhatsApp now lets users record a voice or video note—depending on the call type—with a single tap, so recipients can listen later. This feature aims to make traditional voicemails a thing of the past.
Reactions in Voice Chats: Voice chats allow users to switch quickly between messaging and live conversations without ringing the entire group. WhatsApp now enables reactions during voice chats, so participants can share a quick “cheers!” or other responses without interrupting the discussion.
Group Call Speaker Spotlight: On video calls, the active speaker is automatically prioritised, making it easier to follow the conversation.
Meta AI Image Creation Improvements: WhatsApp has upgraded its image generation capabilities with models from Midjourney and Flux, delivering significant improvements for creating holiday greetings to share in chats or Status.
Animate Your Images with Meta AI: Users can now animate any photo into a short video, adding fun and festive touches to chats or Status updates.
New Media Tab on Desktop: WhatsApp’s desktop version now features a unified media tab, allowing users to search for documents, links, and media across chats in one organised place on Mac, Windows, and Web, making it faster to find files and stay productive.
Cleaner Link Previews: Link previews have been improved, with long URLs streamlined to avoid disrupting chats and maintain the conversation flow.
New Stickers on Status: WhatsApp has added more ways for users to express themselves on Status, including music lyrics, questions for others to respond to, and interactive stickers that can be tapped to engage.
Questions on Channels: Channels now support questions, allowing admins to engage their audience more effectively and receive real-time responses.
