India Today Group has unveiled Sutra, an AI-powered news anchor, at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Created in partnership with BharatGen and presented by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Sutra is designed to report and navigate complex, real-time information through concise synthesis and contextual insights from the AI Impact Summit.
“Our goal with Sutra is to provide clarity in an increasingly fast-paced news cycle,” said Nilanjan Das, Chief AI Officer, India Today Group. “By working with BharatGen, we are exploring how AI can be leveraged to make information more accessible and inclusive for a wider audience, while maintaining the editorial standards the India Today Group is known for. With BharatGen this bring us closer to a sovereign AI future.”
The initiative represents a major step in the Group’s drive to embed advanced technology within a strong editorial framework. With Sutra, the aim is to translate complex policy deliberations into clear, accessible insights, offering real-time highlights and key takeaways from the Summit’s most important sessions.
