Gunjan Soni is a seasoned business leader with over two decades of experience spanning technology, e-commerce, media, and strategy. As of April 28, 2025, she has been appointed as the Country Managing Director for YouTube India, marking a significant leadership change in one of YouTube’s largest global markets .
Before moving to YouTube, Soni spent over six years as the Group CEO of ZALORA, Southeast Asia’s leading fashion e-commerce platform. During her time in Singapore, she played a key role in launching new categories, building fresh business models, driving innovation, and improving the overall user experience.
Before her tenure at ZALORA, Soni held significant roles in the Indian media and e-commerce sectors. She was the Chief Marketing Officer at Myntra and also managed the P&L for Jabong, both part of the Flipkart Group. Earlier, she served as Executive Vice President for Strategy and CEO Office at Star India, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, where she led initiatives in digital content and sports. Soni began her career at McKinsey & Company, where she became a Partner in the Consumer and Marketing practice .
Soni has also been recognized for her leadership and strategic insights. She was named to Fortune Magazine’s ‘40 under 40’ business leaders in India. In addition to her corporate roles, she serves on the board of CBRE Group, a Fortune 500 company, bringing over 20 years of experience in technology, strategy, and the Asian business landscape. Previously, she was also an Independent Director on the board of Zomato, a leading food delivery platform in India.
Soni holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Government Engineering College Bhopal and an MBA in Finance from XLRI Jamshedpur . Her diverse experience across multiple sectors and her strategic leadership make her a valuable asset to YouTube as it continues to grow and innovate in the Indian market.
