YouTube has named Gunjan Soni as its new Country Managing Director for India. She will lead the company's business operations, growth strategy, and innovation efforts in the Indian market.
Soni brings more than two decades of experience across technology, marketing, e-commerce, and business leadership. She has worked with several leading global and Indian companies and has extensive knowledge of digital businesses and consumer markets.
Commenting on the appointment, Gautam Anand, Vice President, YouTube APAC, said India continues to be one of the platform's most important and fastest-growing markets. He added that Soni's experience in digital commerce, creator-focused businesses, and leadership will help YouTube support creators, improve audience engagement, and create new growth opportunities across the country.
Before joining YouTube, Soni spent six years as Group CEO of Zalora, where she led the company's expansion by launching new business initiatives, broadening its product portfolio, and improving customer experience through personalised offerings and loyalty programmes.
Earlier in her career, she held leadership positions as Executive Vice President at Star India and Chief Marketing Officer at Myntra. She also worked as a Partner at McKinsey & Company, advising organisations on business growth and marketing strategies. In addition, she serves on the board of CBRE Group.
Sharing her thoughts on the new role, Gunjan Soni said she is delighted to join YouTube at a time when India's creator ecosystem is witnessing rapid growth. She added that she looks forward to collaborating with creators, partners, and the wider community to drive innovation, expand opportunities, and help Indian creators reach audiences across India and around the world.
