After her speech at United Nations Climate Action Summit 2019, she has earned 12.4 million followers on social media.

On March 13, 2019, the Norwegian parliament nominated Thunberg as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. The 16-year-old first came into news in 2018 when she began the school climate strikes and public speeches. She is also the first recipient of the new award, which was designed to honour a young person engaged in a fight for peace and freedom.

Her revolutionary acts have brought a huge impact on society. Consequently, in February 2019, 224 academics signed an open letter in Thunberg's support. With her increasing popularity as a social media personality, Greta has reportedly received more than a dozen awards over last few days.
