Actor R Madhavan recently discovered a fraudulent social media profile pretending to be him and quickly let his followers know about it. On March 14, 2026, he shared few screenshots of the fake account on his Instagram, making it clear that it has no connection to him or his team.

In a message addressing the issue, Madhavan explained that the impersonating account had been interacting with people online, creating confusion among users who believed it was genuine. The actor stressed that he is not associated with the account and advised fans not to engage with it.

In the post, Madhavan wrote: “This is totally a fraud account. Kindly be aware that this is not me or anybody representing me. Appropriate steps are being taken to hold this person accountable. Thank you for your support and understanding.”

Impersonation like this happens far too often to celebrities, where phony profiles try to chat with fans, promote scams, or ask for personal info. Platforms do allow users to report such accounts, which are then reviewed for potential violations of impersonation policies.

Madhavan’s warning was aimed at preventing fans from being misled or interacting with accounts falsely claiming to be him. The actor also encouraged people to rely only on his verified social media handles for official updates.

Fans jumped in the comments section, showing solidarity and annoyance at the faker. One wrote: “Thanks for the heads-up, sir-stay safe!” Another said: “These fakes are getting too bold. Glad you caught it early, Madhavan ji.” Several urged reporting the account, with notes like “Everyone, block and report this fraud” reflecting how community looks out for each other.

A user noting how such fraudulent accounts take advantage of fandoms wrote, “Why do people even do this and play with the emotions of fans?!”

Known for his work across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu cinema, Madhavan has maintained an active presence on social media over the years, often sharing updates about his projects and interacting with fans online.

Madhavan’s message serves as a reminder for fans to stay cautious online and verify social media profiles before engaging with them. As the actor prepares for the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, he has made it clear that only his official accounts should be trusted for updates and communication with fans.
