WPP logs 47.6% revenue growth in India

According to the company, the presence of IPL in Q2 helped it register the strong revenue growth in India

Advertising behemoth WPP has recorded a 47.6% revenue growth in India during the first half of the fiscal year 2022. In its earnings presentation, the company mentioned that the presence of IPL in Q2 helped it register a strong revenue growth in India.

WPP has been logging double-digit growth in India for the last five quarters. In Q1 2022, the company registered a 25.1% growth in revenue. The growth stood at 16.8% in the exit quarter of the fiscal year 2021. The revenue growth came in at 30% (Q2) and 28% (Q3).

India is among the six markets globally where WPP is seeing strong growth trends. The other markets include the US, the UK, Canada, Brazil, and Spain. The company continues to see double-digit growth in Germany.

The quarterly revenue from China got impacted due to lockdowns while the revenue in the France market was hit due to client losses from 2021.

WPP's revenue in H1 grew 10.2% to £6.75 billion compared to £6.1 billion in the same period last fiscal. Revenue less pass-through costs were up 12.5% to £5.5 billion from £4.8 billion. Net profit rose 8.2% to £419 million against £387 million.

Revenue from the Global Integrated Agencies segment grew 10.8% to £4.5 billion. Headline operating profit increased 3.9% to £507 million. Revenue from Public Relations (PR) segment grew 27% to £545 million. Headline operating profit was up 30.7% to £83 million. Revenue from specialist agencies increased 14.3% to £426 million while headline operating profit rose 27% to £49 million.
