A global creative leader with deep Omnicom roots steps in to steer the newly unified advertising network amid the company’s merger-led transformation.

Troy Ruhanen has been appointed CEO of Omnicom Advertising, a newly formed network that brings together BBDO, McCann, TBWA and the U.S. Advertising Collective following Omnicom’s merger activity. His appointment marks a return to a broader leadership role within the group, backed by a career defined by creative excellence and global brand-building.

Ruhanen began his career at BBDO Brisbane before moving to Leo Burnett, where he spent a decade across Chicago, Asia-Pacific and Sydney managing major Procter & Gamble brands. As Managing Director of Leo Burnett Sydney, he helped the agency secure four Agency of the Year titles and become the most awarded Australian agency at Cannes Lions.

He returned to BBDO New York in 2004 to lead its major AT&T account, guiding work that won recognition across Cannes Lions, Effies, Clios and other top shows. His achievements earned him entry into the American Advertising Federation Hall of Achievement in 2008.

Ruhanen later served as Deputy Chairman of BBDO North America and then Chairman and CEO of BBDO The Americas, overseeing operations across the region. Before joining TBWA in 2014, he was Executive Vice President at Omnicom, driving collaboration and innovation for the group’s largest clients.
