Anurag Gupta

My partner in squash and long walks, now who is no longer their...he just went and vanished “poof” into thin-air! It still has not sunk-in!

Stress got to him I guess....but whatever it was, it certainly was not worth it, not this way.

It is always tough to write about someone whom you have known for two decades and I had no words when I heard the news. My mind had already gone uncomfortably numb.

What can you possibly say about a friend whom you have spent 20 years of your life discussing work, cracking a joke and playing competitive squash and laughing over a drink. He made me run all over on many a occasion.

Anurag Gupta was a warm, compassionate human being who was kind to everyone. A sincere man, a good husband, a doting father and a rock-solid friend.

It brings a tear to my eye, rather my eyes get misty every time I think of him, having spent time at his house playing cards every year at Diwali. Anurag and Nupur were wonderful hosts and would give us the most amazing spread of chaat, mithai and interesting recipes which we would relish. And now it won’t be the same again I guess.

I could go on about those moments well spent, etched in my memory, but the most important thing which got reinforced is: Please laugh and celebrate every day...smile and make others smile, spend time with your loved ones and not wait for tomorrow.

Kal ho na ho...aaj toh apna hai!
